Tiger’s Acolyte is an optional boss that you can encounter near the Windrest Hamlet Shrine. Wielding a long sword, this boss deals considerable damage but also has many glaring weaknesses that make it fairly easy to defeat. Defeating the boss is worth it because it drops the Old Rattle-Drum Key Item, which unlocks the Mad 🍬Tiger Secret Boss.

How To Find Tiger’s Acolyte

The Arched Bridge near the Windrest Hamlet Shrine.

To get to Tiger’s Acolyte, you’ll have to reach the Crouching Tiger Temple and defeat the Tiger Vanguard. After that, you have to🦄 go past the temple and progress through the area until you reach the Windrest Hamlet Shrine.

Defeating Stone Vanguard isn’t r🐼equired to face Tiger’s Acolyte. You only need to defea💙t the Tiger Vanguard to pass through the temple.

From the Windrest Hamlet Shrine, go to your left and cross the small bridge ⭕with a few Yaogauis on it. After that, go downhill and head to the large arched bridge, and you’ll find Tiger’s Acolyte on top of it.

Tiger’s Acolyte Attacks

Tiger's Acolyte is attacking the Destined One.

Tiger’s Acolyte has a variety of combos, and he can easily switch from one combo to the other. It is difficult to exactly predict what move he is going to make, but there’s a general rule that you can follow to avoid most of his combos. Sprinting away from the boss and creating some distance will make🍎 him miss most of the combos, regardless of what he throws at you.

Description

How To Avoid

Jumping Attack Into Slash

Tiger’s Acolyte will jump into the air and stab the ground on landing. After land🧸in🍎g, the boss will throw another slash.

The jumping attack is easy to avoid by dodging. The follow-up attack misses on♏ its own in most cases, but you can 🌸dodge it right away as you see him swing his sword.

Claw Attack

The boss will throw a single claw attack in your direction. He’ll use this attack to close in 🌞the d✅istance.

Easy to dodge but difficult to predict, you have to dodge backwards as you see the boss using this attack.

Claw Attack combo

The boss will launch a 5-hit combo, hitting the Destined One with his claws in quick succession. There’s a slight delay after the second and the fourth attack. The final attack is a thrust an💧d the boss will jump💜 back after using it. From there, he can start another combo.

Quick dodging to the side repeatedly makes it easier to 𓃲dodge the first four attacks. The thrust attack can be dodged in any direction.

Slash, Roll, Into Combo

The boss will approach the player and throw a vertical slash, roll forward, and begin a 2-hit combo, where the final hit may or may no𓆉t unleash a straight, ranged shoc🥃kwave.

You can simply dodge the first attack, and sprint backwards to create some distance. The boss will the♏n miss most of his attacks and you can hit him back once he’s done with his combo.

Kick Combo

Tiger’s Acolyte will pair this kick combo with most of his attacks. The front kick will lead to further slashes where the final attack may or ma⛄y not be a ranged shockwave attack.

This attack can be avoided by dodging the first attack and sprinting to your back. If the last hit is ranged, you can simply dodge in any direction as the shockwave is very linear. There are a few instances where he’ll roll forward to close in the distance and then throw a horizontal slash. If that happens and the boss manages to catch up to you, dodge backwards and sprint away again.

Shoulder Tackle

While retreating after using any of his combos, the boss may use this attack where he jumps back and attacks you with his shoulder, closing in the distance instantly.

You have to watch out for this attack as it may throw you off the bridge. This attack is linear and has a short range so it will miss in most cases if you keep movin🍬g.

3-Hit Sword Slashes

Tiger’s Acolyte will take up the attacking stance, and throw a slash after a short delay. The first two attacks are quicker, while the final hit is slightly delayed and is a small jumping attack. The boss will jump back after🌳 us🔥ing this combo and may begin another combo.

You can avoid this attack by dodging each hit when the boss swings his sword.

Impaling Thrust

The boss will get into a stance with his sword pointed forward. The sword will flash, and the boss will throw an impaling thrust, followed by the Kick Combo.

Dodge to the side as you see the sword flashing, and quickly sprint back to avoid the Kick Combo.

Shockwave Slash

As his combo enders, the Tiger’s Acolyte may use these moves that will send a straight shockwave on the ground, dealing damage to the player if they’re hit by it. You🍎 can recognize this attack by the little sparks that fly as the🅺 shockwave is travelling through the ground.

This attack is only troublesome because the shockwave doesn’t come out sometimes, and you miss out on the opportunity to get in some hits. The shockwave itself is easy to avoid by dodging or moving away as it 👍only travels in a straight line at a slow speed.

How To Defeat Tiger’s Acolyte

The basic strategy for this boss battle revolves around your taking control of the fight. If you give the boss a lot of room to attack and use his combos, he’ll most likely kill you because his attacks deal a lot of damage. Tiger’s Acolyte doesn’t have that much HP so if you keep rushing him down, you’ll be able to defeat him easily.

Be wary of your position on the bridge, as getting hit by the Tiger’s Acolyte can knock you off෴ it and you’ll die instantly. You can avoid this by staying away from the edges of the bridge.

Be wary of his combos while keeping in mind that you don’t have to dodge everything. Just dodge the first strike for most of the boss' attacks and then create some distance by sprinting away. After the boss is done with his combos, approach him by using the Cloud Step or Immobilize to dish out damage.

You can also use Rock Solid to parry most of his attacks. Don’t count on tanking the da꧙mage while using heavy attacks, as that might kill you because of how hard this boss hi🎐ts.

Avoid using Rock Solid on his claw moves, as it might not always work even if your timing is perfect and only use it when you see him winding back to throw an attac🔴k.

Rewards For Defeating Tiger’s Acolyte

The description of Tiger's Acolyte Spirit Summon is shown on the screen.

Defeating Tiger’s Acolyte rewards the Destined One with his Spirit Summon. The Spirit Summon allows the player to unleash a single slash, dealing considerable damage to the enemy. The passive effect of the Spirit Summon increases your Critical Damage moderately.

Defeating the Mad Tiger will lead you to the Plaguebane Gourd. Alongside the Key Item and the Spirit Summon, you also receive Blood of the Iron Bull, a Stone Spirit, a Yaoguai Core, and 768 Will.
