South Of Midnight

South of Midnight follows the journey of a young woman named Hazel, whose hoꦦmetown gets destroyed by a hurricane. In the process, she is pulled into a strange gothic world, partially inspired by the Deep South of Americ🌠a.

In this place, both reality and fantasy combine to create a unique place filled with odd creatures. Hazel has to make her way through it to rescue her mother and discover more about her family. While the combat in this action-adventure isn't anything special, the captivating story and characters more than makeup𝓡 for ꦫit.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

You start Clair Obscur💫: Expedition 33 in a city called Lumiere. While it has its beauty, there are part෴s of it that are a bit run-down. That isn't the most concerning thing for the people who live there, though. What's more pressing is that every year, a whole age group is instantly eliminated. This is because when the creature known as the Paintress changes the number on the large monument outside the city, then people above that age instantly disappear.

All your characters set out on an expedition to reach the Paintress, kill her, and hopefully end the elimination cycle for good. This fascinating premise leads to an incredible story filled with emotional moments, big shocks, and some great dialogue. What's more, the turn-based combat and world a꧃re fantastic in thei🔯r own right. So, it's a game that excels in most areas.

Split Faction

The core story premise of Split Faction isn't incredibly original. It's about two writers who get their work stolen by a greedy publisher. That said, it𝓀's told in a unique way. The publisher attempts to steal the protagonist duo's ideas through a special machine. The two writers end up in the same one and have to play through the stories they've written.

In add💫ition, each character has personal problems they're dealing with that are slowly revealed during the adventure. It's in these personal arcs that the game's storytelling and writing shine, as it's hard not to be moved by their stories.

Lost Records: Bloom & Rage

The story of Lost Records: Bloom & Rage is told in an interesting way. Some parts of the game are set in 1995, while other sequences take place in 2022. You switch back on four during the ad๊venture. In both the past and present, you're following the same group of girls/women.

The present-day scenes revolve around a secret the group has kept for many years. This makes playing through the past scenes all the more compelling, as you naturally become intrigued about what happened all those yea❀rs ago and why the friends went their ꧅separate ways.

Death Stranding

Death Strandiꦿng is set in a post-apocalyptic version of America, which contains dangerous creatures roaming the land. You play as a courier who travels across the world to make important deliveries.

As this is a game made by Hideo Kojima, the story is deep and complex. As a result, it’s easy to get confused about some plot points, but if you can keep focused, you⛄ can get to appreciate a moving tale featuring some outstanding characters.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

You play as a knight called Henry in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. Much of the game revolves around p𝐆olitics and war, as to be expected of a game set in the Middle Ages. Rulers and their lands aren’t the only thing the game’s story is about, though. The title also tells a deeply personal tale about Henry.

Following up on the first game, Henry is ▨still trying to get over his father's death and gain revenge for everything done to him. This is easier said than done, as Henry struggles to deal with all his trauma, especially as new traumas keep being added. This adds plenty of depth t𝔍o the Henry character and makes for a compelling character-driven narrative.

Indiana Jones And The Great Circle

A video game story doesn't need to be very dark and dreary to be good. The tale told in Indiana Jones and The Great Circle is a perfect example of that. The story follows the titular character as he attempts to get the better of some Nazis who want to harness 💦a mysterious power.

It makes for a fun and well-written romp that is of a simila🔥r tone to the movies it's based on. Yes, there is a political message in thꦫe narrative, but the adventure is still fairly light-hearted.

Still Wakes The Deep

Still Wakes The Deep𒀰 takes place on an oil drilling platform in the 1970s. You play as a man on the run who gets a job as an electrician on the rig. Early in the gam❀e, though, a disaster occurs, and the entire place is significantly damaged.

What's m🅘ore, something strange is now roaming around it. You must also walk around the place while desperately trying to survive. Along the way, you meet some very interesting and well-voiced characters who help the game tell a fascinating tale.

A Plague Tale: Requiem

The original Plague Tale was an excellent action-adventure stealth game, and the same can be said of its sequel, A Plague Tale: Requiem. The game features two siblings, Amicia and Hugo. The latter is suffering from a blood disease, and the two protagonists attempt🧸 to find a cure for it. That is easier said than done since the game takes place during 1349, meaning the duo has to deal with the Black Plague and soldiers of the Inquisition.

The siblings are only young and aren’t well-equipped to protect themselves from eওverything they have to face. So, it’s easy to feel sorry for the duo and remain captivat💜ed by their attempts to overcome seemingly impossible odds.

Banishers: Ghosts Of New Eden

You could consider Banishers: G🌠hosts of New Eden an action RPG or an action-adventure game, as it blurs the line between those two genres. Either way, it’s a game with an interesting premise and a strong story. You p🍎lay as a pair of ghost hunters, Antea and Red, who attempt to investigate a haunted community called New Eden. Early in the game, something horrible happens, and Antea becomes a ghost, too.

As Red is a Ghost Hunter, he is used to getting rid of them, but he loves Antea, so he struggles to decide what to do with her. While he wrestles with this decision, the two form a ghost and ghost hunter team as they go about their duties. It’s a well-written narrative that♎ explores themes like love and loss.
