We wanted to look back through the National Dex and see whichꦓ of the three-stage evolutions are the most iconic. These few have earned tꦕheir places by being powerful, unique, or universally adored.

10 Togekiss

Dawn's Togekiss From the Sinnoh Region of the Pokemon Anime

Arguably one of the purest Pokemo🍷n (several dex entries talk about how they share "joy dust" with👍 people pure of heart), the Togekiss line was iconic from its debut. We met Togepi in the Pokemon anime when it claimed Misty as its mother since she was the first thing it saw when it hatched, and we all continued to fall in love from there.

Togepi evolves into To🍨getic with high friendship and then again into Togekiss with the help of a Shiny Stone. With an evolutionary process centered around sharing happiness, light, and blessings, these thr🌺ee Pokemon are a trio of glee.

9 Hydreigon

the pokemon hydreigon flying in the sky with a snowy mountain in the background

Longtime fans of the series know that 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:the legendary birds from Gen 1 - Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres - get their names in part from counting in Spanish, but this isn't the only time the Pokemon series has gotten multilingual with their names. The Dark/Dragon pseudo-legendary line from Gen 5 did the same three-count name scheme as well, but in German: Deino, Zweilous, and Hydreigon.

However, unlike the birds, the number of heads increases with each count. By the time Zweilous finally evolves at level 64, you feel like you've definitely earned its vastly increased power.

8 Metagross

Pokemon Battle Frontier Anime Salon Maiden Anabel's Pseudo Legendary, Metagross.

This evolutionary line got a boost from Metagross being 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Steven's partner Pokemon in the Gen 3 games and their remakes, but they've always been a solid choice. After you beat him as Champion and also finish the Delta Episode in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, Steven gifts you with a Beldum of your own to evolve.

It'll become a Metang at level 20 and finally a Metagross at level 45. Metagross has a wonderful Mega Evolution and is the heaviest of all the Mega Evolved Pokemon to power up even further.

7 Aegislash

the pokemon aegislash in battle in shield forme

Not only is the design of the Aegislash line really cool, with the final evolution called the Royal Sword Pokemon, but it's an interesting typing, too. As a dual Steel/Ghost typing, Aegislash will be immune to three types of moves and resistant to an additional nine. Water and Electric hit normally, while Ground, Ghost, Fire, and Dark do double damage; everything else is reduced or nullified.

Additionally, Aegislash has two forms that it can change in battle, depending on the moves you have it use. The Shield Forme is a gallant defensive position, while Blade Forme sees it ready for offensive action. These forms play an important role in the Pokemon's stats, affecting how it battles.

6 Haxorus

Haxorus on some earthen ground, sparkling

Beginning as the adorable little Axew, powering up into Fraxure (whose name is deceptively badass for how goofy it looks), and finally settling as Haxorus, the Axe Jaw Pokemon is a fan favorite from the Gen 5 games. Multiple dex entries describe them as "kind but relentless," which seems like the perfect partner in a world like Pokemon's.

The idea behind Haxorus is that it's literally hacking at you. Instead of a dragon that bites, this evolutionary line consists of dragons with blade teeth on either side of their face, which it uses as weaponry by thrashing its head.

5 Dragonite

Dragonite posing angrily, preparing to strike.

Back in Gen 1, when things were more straightforward for the series, Dragonite inherited the name The Dragon Pokemon. And while its title might not be the most innovative, the Pokemon itself ♈is more interesting; they are rarely seen, often flying over the oceans looking for shipwrecked sailors to help back to l𝓡and.

This 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:pseudo-legendary Pokemon, with a fossilized skeleton on display in Nacrene City, is believed to be ancient. It's supposed to make its home on an island accessible only to Dragonite and can fly clear across the globe in an incredible 16 hours.

4 Tyranitar

the pokemon tyranitar growling

People really seem to love the Tyranitar line. Given how powerful the Armor Pokemon is, even before you Mega Evolve it, it's not hard to see why. A Rock/Ground type, it has natural immunity to Psychic moves and is also resistant to Normal, Flying, Poison, Ghost, Fire, and Dark.

You'll have to want this Pokemon, though, as your Pupitar won't be evolving past its thick-shelled chrysalis form 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:until level 55. You don't have to Mega Evolve to get the most out of your Tyranitar, but doing so is advised where possible, as its Mega form is tied with Diancie for highest base stats.

3 Gengar

Gengar jumps in the air in a dark stadium

Our first exposure t⭕o Ghost-types back in Gen 1, the Gengar evolutionary line has long been an iconic one for the se🤡ries. Fans of the anime almost certainly remember the famous Tower of Terror episode, wherein Gastly, Haunter, and Gengar spook and scare Ash for their own amusement.

But in a combative position, Gengar is routinely one of the strongest and most favored, especially when it comes to Ghost-types, with or without any of its generational gimmick evolutions. Gengar and its evolutionary line are 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:the only Pokemon in the National Dex with a dual Ghost/Poison Pokemon, so if their creepiness doesn't scare you, their power ought to.

2 Alakazam

Alakazam from Pokemon anime

Humanoid, powerful, and scary smart, Alakazam is a true powerhouse in the world of Pokemon. You fight for it right from the start as you struggle to catch an elusive Abra in the wild, and you've got to trade your Kadabra before the all-powerful Psi Pokemon can be yours to command.

Said to have an IQ of roughly 5,000, Alakazam is bursting with psychic energy to the point that it can cause headaches in people nearby. They also have impeccable memories, able to remember everything that's ever happened from the time they hatche🎃d as an Abra to the time they pass away.

1 Charizard

Charizard on the Island of Giant Pokemon

The Gen 1 starter Pokemon have enjoyed long tenures as ♓staples for the series. Wh🌱ile fans certainly adore Venusaur and Blastoise, no final evolution of a starter has had the staying power of Charizard. The Flame Pokemon even received an impressive three other forms as the generations progressed: Mega Charizard X and Y came in Gen 6, while Gigantamax Charizard debuted in Gen 8.

Fans have always felt slighted that it's not a Dragon-type, always resting firmly as a Fire/Flying dual-type, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:despite its clea๊rly d🅷ragon-like appearance. As long as yours isn't like Ash's Charizard, which flagrantly disregarded his commands without Ash being of a high enough level to control it, you've got a faithful, fiery sidekick always at the ready.
