There are numerous bosses in Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon, but the first boss that proves to be more than your average enemy is Amadan Dubh. Located in Amadan's Big Top and just before the Stone Shrine, you must defeat this clown to gain a new elemental power.
You must have mastered Cheshire's new Wood Form and be prepared for his many underhanded tricks to get the best of him. Defeating Amadan Dubh might not come easily, but getting revenge for all the faerie games and magic pranks you've had to endure to get to this point tastes ever so sweet.

Amadan Dubh has two phases where he'll be high up, so attacking him will be challenging. These phases will require you to assess the situation and determine how to bring this jester down to your level.
Cereza won't cast much magic initially, so most of the work will be placed on Cheshire. Investing in one tier of Venom Thorn is recommended for Cereza to make the most of🏅 her limited cha🌱nces to Thorn Bind.
Cheshire's combat skills will also require fine-tuning to deal as much damage as possible. This is because of Amadan's short stints on the ground.
You'll want to maximize damage to make the most of the limited time window.
Potions-wise, nothing in particular changes the outcome of this fight, so make sure you're stocked up on the standard Healing Tonics if you're feeling a little hesitant about this fight.
Phase One
Full Attack List |
|
Maraca Rain |
Amadan drops 5-6 maracas from the sky. These maracas are telegraphed by yellow circles that 🍌appear on the ground. After they strike, they will bounce once and then explode. |
Spike Run |
Amadan's ball grows spikes and begins to charge by rapidly rolling in place. A yellow line will appear directly in front of where he is facing and may follow Cereza. After charging for two seconds, he will then charge forward in the direction of the line. |
Spike Smash |
Amadan's ball grows spikes. He throws himself into the air and slams back down a small distance in front of him. He repeats this twice. |
Amadan Dubh begins on his rolling ball. His attacks are fairly slow and clearly telegraphed by the yellow markers on the ground, but the size of the ball can make them a bit of a hassle to deal with if you're not careful.
To do any damage to him, you need to figure out how to knock him off. Thankfully, this is made clear by striking the ball one time with Cheshire. Doing so reveals a handle you can pull with his Wood Grab.
Pull Amadan Dubh off his ball with the Grab and begin attacking him once he's landed.
As he prepares to jump back on his ball, time the Thorn Bind for this moment.
By waiting for his stagger to expire and binding him at the last moment, you'll further increase the amount of time he is stuck on the ground and, consequently, the damage you can do.
Repeat this until he reaches the halfway mark on his health bar to sen𝕴d him into Phase Two.
Phase Two
Full Attack List |
|
Maraca Rain |
Amadan drops 5-6 maracas he juggles. These maracas are telegraphed by yellow circles that appear on the ground. After they stri🥀ke, they will bounce once and then explode. |
Cannon Blast |
Amadan will jump back into his cannon and fire 1-2 s൲hots. The shot lands wherever the spotlight is a💙fter about five seconds. |
Fireworks |
Fireworks will rise🅺 from the g𒆙round and fall on the arena. They are telegraphed by yellow circles flashing on the ground. They explode on impact. This attack appears to only occur during the beginning of the second phase. |
In P🐠hase Two, Amadan Dubh will begin by jumping out of the arena and behind a cannon.
There's nothing you can do except evade here, running away from the spotlight asไ it chases you.
This chase around the arena with the cannon is made a little more complicated by the fireworks constantly raining down around you. Carefully maneuver out of their range, dodging any yellow circles that indicate where they'll land and explode.
This small phase of the battle ends after Amadan Dubh has fired one cannon shot (after approximately five or six seconds). He may sometimes fire a second time, but after he's expired his time with the cannon, he'll jump onto one of three platforms now in the arena.
You cannot hit him while he's on these platforms, so you must knock him down. Wood Cheshire will not work here. And attacking the platforms or hitting the buttons in front of him will send him jumping to another platform. Therefore, it's time to get creative.
Trap Amadan Dubh using Thorn Bind while he's on one of these platforms. Now restrained, jump onto the button in f൩ront of the platform to fire a cannonball at ജhim.
Knocked onto the ground again, attack him with Cheshire and bind him at the end of his stagger animation to deal as much damage as possible.
After one or two repeats of this, you'll get the prompt to do some good old fashioned Bayonetta-button-mashing to draw the curtain on this jester's final act.
