If this is the nudge you need to finally take the plunge and let Baldur's Gate 3 consume your life, be warned that there's a very strong chance it really will do exactly that. Sure, the millions of us who have let that happen joke about it to an extent, but we are also being deadly serious. Not only is there so much content that Baldur's Gate 3 can comfortably take up tens, if not hundreds of hours of your time, but if you dive in head first, you'll find yourself thinking about its colorful cast of characters, and which one of them you love the most, even when you're not playing.

Baldur's Gate 3 is the long-awaited next chapter in the Dungeons & Dragons-based series of RPGs. Developed by Divinity creator Larian Studios, it puts you in the middle of a mind flayer invasion of Faerûn, over a century after the events of its predecessor.
Unfortunately, Baldur's Gate 3 doesn't appear to be on sale on other platforms. For those of you who are already playing and want more, or you've not played yet and you'd prefer to pay extra for a physical copy, Baldur's Gate 3's deluxe edition is still available. It's starting to ship now too, which hopefully means you won't have to wait nearly as long as those of us who rushed to secure our copies when the deluxe edition was announced six months ago.
The wait between Baldur's Gate 2 and Baldur's Gate 3 was 23 years, and there's a chance the wait for Baldur's Gate 4 could be just as long. Larian has confirmed although it is working on new projects, it won't play a part in developing the next Baldur's Gate due to the constraints of D&D combat. Without Larian involved, there's also the inherent risk that whatever's next in the series doesn't measure up to Baldur's Gate 3.
