One of the driving forces behind Baldur’s Gate 3’s popularity is its interesting, memorable characters — 🧸especially the origin characters, who round out your party. While most will choose to do a custom character for their first adventure in the Forgot🌌ten Realms, the ability to fully inhabit your party is too good a chance to pass up.

7 Gale

Gale Absorbs Magic Item Given By Player By Holding To His Chest

There’s something a little shifty about Gale. At first blush, he appears to be what he presents himself to be: a pleasant, skilled wizard with more knowledgཧe than he knows what to do with. Of course, as he says in his introduction during character creation, he holds the ability to level cities within him. Which, you know, isn’t super great.

Gale has good stats and is a fun character to inhabit, but he’s also really squishy and even while you’re playing as him, when꧃ you’re literally in his mi♔nd, you can’t help but feel a little wary of the wizard. What is he not telling you?

6 ✃ Lae’zel

Lae’zel is an absolute powerhouse in play — 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:a Githyanki Fighter with proficiencies in armor and weapon types; she can give anyone the fight of their lives. While her character is well-rounded and engaging, she also ﷽has the habi🅷t of being downright mean to, well, everyone.

It’s not her fault. Her upbringing has given her an immense sense of pride and purpose, and her status as a Githyanki further others her f🎀rom the culture of the Forgotten Realms. Unlike most of the origin characters, she is entirely out of her element — and she acts it. She’s a great character to play in combat, but if you’re looking for someone with more charisma, you should find someone else.

5 💦 Shadowheart ✅

Shadowheart sits with a goblet of wine in Baldur's Gate 3

Shadowheart doesn’t know who she is by design. A Cleric for the dark goddess Shar, Shadowheart willingly gave her memories to do her holy worꦑk without accidentally revealing anything about her religion. Her sense of who she is is muddled, and while she worships a dark goddess, Shadowheart herself is rather friendly, if a little cold.

As a cleric, Shadowheart is great to play for those who prefer to be healers. Unfortunately, while she can pack a punch when needed, 🥂Shadowheart is generally a little lacking in the offense department. What a greaওt reason to pair her up with Lae’zel and watch their mutual dislike bloom.

4 Astarion

In a sense, you can play as a different 'version' of each of the other origin characters mechanically. Nothing stops you from being a Half-Elf Cleric or a Githyanki Fighter — but you c🌼an’t be a vampire spawn, with all the drawbacks and perks it comes with. This makes Astarion appealing, other than him being, you know, a hot vampire and all.

Astarion’s ability to drink blood while in battle, giving him buffs while his victim becomes debuffed, can be the difference between life and death for your party. Astarion has an interesting backstory and a flair for the dramatics — plus, ꦇhe’s the best option for stealthy gameplay you have.

3 Wyll

BG3 Wyll sneering

Wyll has some issues in his personal life — mostly, his relationship with a certain cambion that🎉 has him doing her bidding. Outside of that, however, he’s practically a saint. As a party member, he’s someone you can count on. As your origin character, he’s a solid force for good.

His knowledge of arcana, his strong charisma stats and his status as a well-known folk hero, make him a well-rounded and interesting pick for your origin character. Wyll is the kind of guy who wants to do the right tꩵhing, and he’ll use everything at his disposal to do so. Balancing the dark nature of his pact wit🦂h a demon and his genuine desire to be an upstanding, helpful person is interesting.

2 The Dark Urge ♔

baldurs-gate-3-the-dark-urge

The Dark Urge differs slightly from other origin characters in that they’re fully customizable in appearance and stats. What The Dark Urge gives you is a set-in-stone backstory that you can roleplay around as you move through the world. An amnesiac, The Dar🔥k Urge doesn’t understand who they are or why they’re here — theyﷺ only know they lust for violence.

Playing as The Dark Urge is almost like a hard mode — they interact differently with the world around them and can often give in to their violent impulses, even as 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:you actively fight against them. Unlike the otheꦏr origin characters, The Dark Urge cannot b♕e recruited. Be careful when choosing this option.

1 Karlach

Karlach, a Tiefling Barbarian with one hell of a backstory (pun intended), is the character those of us who played Early Access have been waiting for. After a decade of fighting in , Karlach finally escaped — and she intends for it to stay that way. She’s like a nicer, more direct Astarion, in🍰🅺 a sense — both became pawns of an overwhelmingly powerful force, but Karlach lacks any shiftiness to her character.

She’s also a powerhouse to play as. With strong perception skills and the༺ ability to intimidate people in conversation, Karlach feels like a version of Lae’zel that you’d want to hang out with in your day-to-day life.
