What Does Momentum Do?

Tav uses the Springstep Boots to move more than 25 meters in one turn in Baldur's Gate 3

Characters typically gain Momentum from the effects of equipped magic items. Momentum lasts for one or more turns but is removed entirely if the affected character becomes Restrained, Prone, or Incapacitated.

Momentum increases the character's base movement speed by 1.5 meters per turn, multiplied by the number of turns remaining on the Momentum effect. This m🌠eans that Momentum becomes lesꩵs effective as it wears off.

For example, the grant three turns of Momentum when the wearer uses Dash. If a human, whose base movement per turn is 9 meters per turn, uses them, their movement will become 13.5 meters for the rest of the turn, then fall to 12 meters the following turn, then 10.5 meters on the third turn, before the effect finally wears off.

Using Dash effectively doubles a character's movement, including the bonus from Momentum. The human in the example above can Dash a total of 27 meters 𝓀the turn they activate the Springstep🐷 Boots - triple their normal move!

Which Equipment Grants Momentum?

Be on the lookout for the following gear if you want to create a team of fast-moving speed demons! Note that the Chain Of Liberation doesn't grant Momentum, but allows you to unlock a powerful movement option if you have Momentum from another source.
