Summary

  • Baldur's Gate 3 has a ton of cut content.
  • There's circumstantial evidence that the shadow druids were supposed to have further involvement past the first act.
  • Halsin was likely supposed to have been involved in this later quest.

A game as large and expansive as 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Baldur's Gate 3 will inevitably have reams of content left on the cutting room floor. Hearing about these dropped plot threads and cut characters after the fact fosters a♓ sense of longing within us. For instance, the werewolf bard Helia, a cut party member, has plenty of fans, even though she was never in the game.

A Reddit user named AutisticHalsin recently of cut content associated with their namesake character. There's ♛a ton of interesting information in the thread, such as the original vision of Halsin being an older elf, which partially explains other in-game characters referencing his age, which, in reality, isn't particularly old for a wood elf.

There's an interesting tidbit a𝕴t the end of the thread centred around the shadow druids.

Shadowy Figures

Kagha looking doubtful at another character.

In Baldur's Gate 3, the plot ends after confronting Kagha and the shadow druids. To resolve this quest, the shadow druids must always be slain. Kagha can be convinced to switch sides, or killed along with the rebelli🔯ous druids.

However, there's circumstantial evidence that this wasn't originally intended to be the end of this plot thread. The ꩵLetter to Kagha, found in a hidden compartment in the Sunlit Wetlands, refers to the druid's plans to travel to the city of Baldur's Gate 3.

"Olodan has sent word༒ of your progress; I am pleased the Rite of Thorns has begun. I depart soon from Cloakwood to Baldur's Gate. Should you need further aid from my circle, now is the time to ask. Once c🃏loistered, the Emerald Grove will be the Shadow Druids' domain, and you its First Druid," reads the letter.

It seems intentional that Archdruid Aelis m𝔍entions their upcoming journey to Baldur's Gate, the setting of the game's third🗹 act.

The original poster stresses that they've found nothing concrete outside an 𒆙unused tag in the game's files, but there are indicators that the shadow druids were supposed to have further involvement, possibly with Halsin.

We know that Ketheric Thorm, essentially Halsin's nemesis, is responsible for manipulatiജng the shadow druids into their 🍨hostile takeovers of the Cloakwood and Emerald Grove circles. He's eager to undermine the power of the druids because of their role in the siege of Reithwin, the battle where Thorm originally died.

T🌞he tease of Baldur's Gate in Aelis' letter, combined with the direct involvement of Halsin's adversary Ketheric, seems to point towards Halsin confronting shadow druids in Act 3, but this thread was likely cut along with a lot of content related to the Archdruid.

Unfortunately, we'll likely never know the truth of the matter as Larian has m𝓀oved onto new projects.
