Baldur's Gate 3: How To Romance Halsin
Unloc💫k the secrets of this powerful archdruid𝓡's heart.
Wyll is the perfect partner for any adventurer looking to greet the world with open arms. Kind, daring, and a little theatrical, Wyll has all the qualities you could desire in a traveling companion and more. For those of you♏ playing the hero, rom🔯ancing Wyll will be a piece of cake.
How To Gain Approval And Disapproval
Wyll is easily impressed by any heroic actio💃n you take, making him one of the easiest companions to gain approval with. If your playstyle revolves around doing as much good as you can in the world, then romancing Wyll will be a breeze.
To gain approval, choose dialogue options an🧜d actions ဣthat reflect these things:
Action |
Description |
---|---|
Acts of heroism |
An easy way to do this is by saving the innocent, like the tiefling refugees and any e🤡ndangered children you find. |
Offer aid to those in need |
You'll need to do this without asking for anything in return. |
Be generous and kind |
You don't need to give up every reward or valu𓆉able item in your possession, but be generous to NPCs in need𒐪. |
Oppose villainy |
Don't side with villains or reinforce their ideals. Don't be a bully or help a bully out. |
Take down monsters |
The best example of this is dealing with the goblins in Act One, and s🌼aving anyone who the goblins are oppressing. |
Express interest in his past |
At camp, asking Wyll about how he became the Blade of Frontiers will grant you approval. Keep checking in with him and showing interest, and he'll take the hint. |
It can be difficult to give up potential rewards from side quests, as coins and other resources are hard to come by in-game, but more often than not, NPCs will reward you for your kindness even if you don't ask them to.
Avoid any opti🍷ons that oppose the above values. Actions that do the following will earn you disapproval from𒉰 Wyll.
Action |
Description |
---|---|
Lying to him |
Don't lie to Wyll or try to trick him. Wyll values trust, and breaking his will put you two at odds. |
Be a bully |
Wyll dislikes anyone who hurts others or puts them down for no reason. Likewise, he dislikes people who are greedy or entitled. Don't stick your nose up at people in need, and don't choose to be cruel just because you can. |
Side with devils or goblins |
Siding with Minthara or the goblin leaders won't just make it impossible to romance Wyll, it will remove him from your party altogether. He won't be party to killing innocents. |
Side with Mizora |
Mizora holds Wyll's pact and has tormented him for years. Taking her side in dialogue will only prove to Wyll that you're not worthy of his trust or friendship. |
Sleep with Mizora |
This one should go without saying, but pursuing a romantic relationship with Mizora will end yourဣ relationship with Wyll. |
Wyll is a monogamous character. You won't be able to pursue a serious romance with him while pursuing one with another character. If you try to romance multiple companions, Wyll will eventually ask you to choose. You must choose him to continue your romance.
Specific Actions That Give Approval
If you're still struggling to get Wyll to notice you, here are a few Act One interactions that are guaranteed to earn you his approval.
- Save Barcus Root from Fezzerk and the Windmill Goblins.
- Ask Wyll how he became the Blade of Frontiers.
- Peacefully convince the tieflings to leave Lae'zel in her cage.
- Demand that the goblin, Crusher kiss your boot.
- Recruit Karlach into your party or kill her.
- Rescue Counsellor Florrick from the fire at Waukeen's rest.
- Agree to rescue Duke Ravenguard, Wyll's father.
You will gain higher approval for sparin🤡g and recruiting Karlach than you will for kill🎐ing her.
Romance Prerequisites
Wyll will not tolerate you if you side with the goblins. You'll have to save both Halsin and the tieflings if you want to start a romance with Wyll. Saving the tiefling refugees is Wyll's main goal at the start of Act One and directly ties into his personal quest.
Choosing to side with the goblins will destroy any chance you🌞 have at romancing him, and it will remove him permanently from camp.
How To Romance Wyll In Act One
You can meet Wyll in the Emerald Grove in Act One. He'll help you in the initial fight with the goblins, but you'll have to head into the grove if you want to recruit him. You can find him at the center of the druid's cave, helping the refugee children learn how to defend themselves. Talk to Wyll and invite him to your party.
The Emerald Grove is a great place to start gaining approval with Wyll. Side with the tieflings in various conflicts around the grove, and save any children in distress if you want to catch Wyll's eye.
Ask around the grove for any information about Halsin while you explore. Saving Halsin is a mandatory stipulation if you want to trigger Wyll's romance.
First Romance Scene
Once you have both freed Halsin from his goblin captors and saved the tiefling refugees, you'll trigger Wyll's first romance scene. The tieflings will throw you a party at camp upon your first long rest after saving them.
Talk to Wyll and the two of you will have a conversation by the stream. Express to him that you missed his presence at the party, then either invite him to dance with you, or ask him if he knows why you followed him to the stream. After that, you will have the opportunity to make a DC 15 persuasion check to convince Wyll for a kiss. Failing the persuasion check will not impact your relationship negative🅠ly.
For the romance to trigger at the tiefling party, you must at least have high approval with Wyll. You can check your approval by pressing the Tab Key and looking at Wyll's character sheet.
Other Act One Encounters
Wyll has a few more cutscenes in Act One that aren't romance-centric, and they'll give you some great opportunities to gain approval with him. For starters, whether you choose to recruit or kill Karlach, you'll gain approval with Wyll. Sparing Karlach will grant you greater approval.
There is also a transformative interaction between Wyll and his warlock patron, Mizora. In Wyll's cutscene with Mizora, you'll have another opportunity to solidify your relationship with him. During the Mizora dialogue, defend Wyll and Karlach (if you spared her) and Wyll💫 💧will thank you for your trust and support.
You'll gain approval for supporting Wyll or Karlach in front of Mizora.
Wyll will also walk away from his encounter with Mizora with a bold new look, and you'll earn some leads on Wyll's Act Two questline.
How To Romance Wyll In Act Two
You'll have to wait a little bit longer to trigger Wyll's Act Two romance scene, as it typically triggers towards mid to late Act Two, but after a few short rests, you'll find Wyll dancing around your camp.
Compliment his form or admire his dancing from a distance. Next, ask who his partner is, or tell him he couldn't fail anyone if he tried. After this, Wyll will invite you to join him in a dance. Choose any of the first three answers to Wyll's invitation, and Wyll will initiate a dance with you.
When you accept his invitation, you will have a chance to choose how to perform in the dance. The difficulty class for all three checks is DC 10, so it should be rather easy to pass.
Failing the check won't negatively impact your relationship with Wyll.
After your solo dances, Wyll will invite you to try a more intimate style, and you'll waltz into a swoon-worthy dance number. At the end, you'll have the opportunity to initiate a kiss with Wyll or wait for him to lean in for one.
You can then either suggest to spend the night together, or move in for a final kiss. If you choose the first option, Wyll will turn you down, revealing that he's an old romantic and wants to romance you the 'proper way'.
Unlike in his Earওly Access content, there is no open-door intimacy scene with Wyll. Your imagination will have to do.
How To Romance Wyll In Act Three
To trigger Wyll's third and final romance scene, you first have to complete the Duke Ravenguard and Tales of Ansur questlines. Once both quests have been completed, the final romance scene will trigger d🌌uring one of your subsequen💫t long rests.
During the scene, Wyll will reveal to you a few tidbits about his past, and muse on whom the true villain of his story has been. He will then monologue for a little while before you eventually get the opportunity to spend 🐭some real one-on-one time with him.
Choose the options 'Smile and Take Wyll's hand' and 'Enjoy the view. Enjoy Wyll's quiet company.'
At this point, Wyll will propose to you with a truly heartfelt gesture - an acorn from the Wilden Oak. Choose either one of the first two options to accept Wyll's proposal.
Wyll will then invite you to consummate your bond together. To accept, choose either of the first two options presented.
You won't get an open-door scene like you do with other companions, but what you do get is just as intimate and truly touching. At the end of the scene, you are now ready to embark on the remainder of your journey with Wyll as your charming adventuring partner and fiancé.
