I’ve been playing a lot of , which is unfortunate for𒅌 my coworkers who have had to read and edit all my liveblogs of the experience. Sorry all, but I’ve got more opinions in the tank.

This piece was originally going to be about how it made me sad that Morrigan doesn’t like me because I’m too nice, but then I realised I don’t even care about Morrigan’s approval that much. Is she DA:O’s hot goth gf? Yes. Is she also 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:a fan favourite romance? Yes. But I’m playing 𒈔a female Warden and can’t romance her, and I’m not s🌟ure I’d even want to, because she’s kind of mean.

I Love Origins’ Companions, I Hate Origins’ Companions

Despite launching fifteen years ago, Dragon Age: Origins still holds up as 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:one of the best-written RPGs around. Much of that comes from its excellent characters, each of whom feels fleshed out and comp♑elling in distinct, individual ways. It’s because of that excellent writing that you can start to see the game’s companions as extremely flawed people, each with their o🍨wn lovable and extremely annoying traits.

Out of𝓡 all DA:O’s romanceable characters, it makes sense that Morrigan is the most popular. She’s very hot, and lots of people like it when attractive women talk down to them. According to that same , Alistair is a close seconꦗd, which is also a predictable outcome, because everybody loves a golden retriever boy as much as a mean goth girl. But they’re both so well written that I realised if they were real people, they would give me the ick.

Look, I get Morrigan’s deal. She’s all about survival of the fittest beca𒐪use she was raised in the woods bꦫy an abusive witch. Her cynical view of the world dictates that if you can’t cut it on your own, you deserve to suffer. Any time you try to help someone or take the longer, harder, but more rewarding route towards solving a problem, she gets pissed off. She wants you to stay in your lane and just deal with the Blight – everyone else can suck it.

Everything About The Veilguard's Romances Sound Great - Why Aren't I Excited?

Bio𝓡Ware clearly cares about The Veilguard's romanc🌠e, but I worry it cares a little too much.

I understand why she’s like that,ও but it’s still annoying that she makes it my problem. Don’t yell at me because I wanted t💫o help some random kid, Morrigan. He deserves help, even if you didn’t get any growing up.

Don’t getꦺ me wrong, she’s an interesting and well-developed character, and she does soften up a little if you romance her, but as a person? We would not be friends till she did some serious growing up, and I don’t want to be the person to fix her. Also, I’m pretty sure she’s mostly the favourite because she got the most attention and the least amount of clothing, oh, and a DLC.

Alistair is a whole different deal. I love myself a golden retriever, and he seems to be a genuinely good guy. His wry comments have made me snort with laughter, and he’s got the knight in shining armour thing down pat. But he’s so naive that it makes 🦩me want to tear my eyes out. I understand the appeal, but the trope is overdone. Pass.

Leliana? Talks to God and has weird perceptions of elves. Also, apparently, she watches you sleep? She has a good head on her shoulders, our morals align, and I quite enjoy our philosophical chats, but she’s not my first choice. From what I’ve read, I know I’d appreciate her openness about our relationship and the solid dynamic between us, but in comp♛arison to the angst of Morrigan’s arc and the sweetness of Alistair’s, she still falls short.

In Defense Of Zevran, My Best Boy

Zevran is at the bottom of the poll, which I find insulting. I haven’t spent a ton of time with Zevran while going about my business, I’ll admit. I was so taken with his character that I immediately added him to my party in place of Leliana, but holy crap, he’s awful at lockpicking, so I swapped him out again. Why do you keep lying, Zevran? 🌜Why do you keep telling me you can open that chest when you and I bot🌱h know you can’t?

That said, the bits and pieces of his story I’ve been able to unpack so far have been just as compelling as any other character’s. From the beginning, he’s decided to swear himself to the Warden for seemingly no other reason than because I’m hot and it’s better than being a Crow. Inexplicably, he’s ride or die for me, and from my research, that lasts through the ending. He’s forward in 🌞a way that the other companions aren’t, which I appreciate – there’s no guessing games with him, because he tells me exactly what he thinks and feels. He’s also the easiest to get into bed.

Avowed Is Right Not To Include Romantic Relationships ♓

Platonic relationships can be just as m🐽eaningful as a romance, if 🍌not more.

He’s a passionate elf-rights advocate, he’s open-minded, he has surprising amounts of optimism despite having a pretty dreadful past, he asks if it’s okay to flirt or compliment you, and he doesn’t even mind if you hook up with other people, as long as you’re honest about it. Despite all the bad stuff that’s happened to him, he’s probably the most emotionally mature of all the romanceable characters, and he’s a bisexual king.

Does he feel a little more morally grey than Alistair or Leliana? For sure. Does he have just as much baggage as anyone else? Most definitely. Bu﷽t he’s got a good heart, and more importantly, you don’t have to teach him to stand up for himself, because he can do that just fine on his own. Dude will die for you, and he won’t even be weird about it. Just don’t ask him to pick any locks.
