In the show's finale, Zuko is seen questioning Ozai about wh꧂ere his mother is, only to be deliberately left in suspense as the scene cuts. But it wasn't until 2013 that the graphic novel, The Search, was released, and we finally learned what ultimately happened to Ursa. So if you're interested in what led to Ursa's disappearance, and the events that directly followed, then you've come to the right place.

Who Is Princess Ursa?

A teenage Ursa weeps.

Ursa wasn't born a princess. Instead, she was born and raised by her parents, Jinzuk and Rina, and lived a simple life in a small Fire Nation village called Hira'a. At the outset, they appeared like an average family with nothing unique about them, since neither Jinzuk nor Rina appeared to be firebenders, and there was never any confirmation that Ursa herself was a firebender (though it's highly likely she was).

But Ursa was the only grandchild of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Avatar Roku through her mother Rಞinaไ, who was Roku's daughter with his wife, Ta Min.

Ursa largely led a peaceful, almost idyllic existence throughout her teenage years, and seemed not to feel the effects of the war. She even fell in love with a boy who lived in the same village, Ikem, and the pair later worke𝓡d as actors, auditioning and taking part in plays in theꦑir early adulthood.

They were even engaged to be married, however, Ursa was never able to inform her parents of the news, as Fire Lord Azulon and a then-Prince Ozai had arrived, be🌜aring demands that would change Ursa's life forever.

A Dream Crushed

Ursa and Ozai's marriage ceremony.

As the only known living grandchild of Avatar Roku, Azulon wanted to bind his line with that of the late Avatar, doing so through his younger son, Ozai. He also mentioned a prophecy from the Fire Sages that claimed that a powerful firebender would be produced from this union - although the prophecy is somewhat fulfilled through Aܫzula or Zuko.

Unable to refuse the Fire Lord, Ursa was forced to accept and was taken to the Fire Nation Royal Palace, not before pleading with Ikem to go away for his own safety. Ursa and Ozai were married shortly after, and Ursa became a Princess. ☂We also get the first inkling as to what their marriage would be like, since Ozai told Ursa that she would never see her parents or her village again, as she is his property now.

Life As A Fire Nation Princess

Ursa reads a letter from Iroh to her children.

At some point in their marriage, Ursa first gave birth to Zuko, followed by Azula two years later.

Ursa's marriage to Ozai isn't a happy one, since Ozai really kept his promise of isolating Ursa from her loved ones, by plan💞ting servants whose loyalties are to him first and foremost. Although it seemed Ursa had built a bond with Iroh, she was still largely alone in the palace due to Iroh being off at war at the time.

Avatar: The Last Airbender - 10 Best Fight Scenes🐠, Ranked

These fight scenes are unforgettable.

We see the environment of isolation and loneliness Ozai creates for his wife in the comic. When Ursa writes a letter to her family in Hira'a and gives it to a servant to send off, the servant turns against her, reading it before handing it over to Ozai. It seemed that Ursa was also well aware that her every movement was being monitored by her husband, since she deliberately wrote a fals🧔e letter as 🔥a test to see if her suspicions were true.

In the letter, she falsely claimed that Zuko's real father was, her lost love, Ikem, causing Ozai to angrily confront her. Ozai's reaction not only confirmed her fears, but Ursa also made a grave mistake of telling Ozai she wished Zuko was Ikem's son, as she wanted Zuko to be nothing like Ozai. Ozai showed how vindictive he was by responding that, because of Ursa's words, he would not treat Zuko as his son, ꦆwhich is a promi🔯se we know Ozai followed to the letter.

Ursa glares sternly as she lectures her daughter.

Ursa also struggled to raise her children in a loving, safe environment. Although she had a good relationship with her son Zuko, it was a different story with her daughter Azula. While Zuko had a softer,🌄 kinder personality, Azula had a mean streak that, un🌱fortunately, Ozai took advantage of and nurtured, resulting in clashes between mother and daughter.

The more Azula fell under Ozai's influence, the greater the strain on their relationship. It also didn't help that Azula had a natural sense of superiority due to being noted as a firebending prodigy compared to Zuko, and Ursa's growing concerns led to lots of misunderstandings on Azula's part, 🌠causing her to believe that Ursa hated and feared Azula due to her power.

Palace Coup And Exile

Princess Ursa speaks to her son for the last time.

Things took a much darker turn upon the death of Iroh's only son, Lu Ten, during the failed Siege of Ba Sing Se. Despite being the heir to the throne, Iroh began to seclude himself from public life and showed an increasing disinterest in becoming Fire Lord. Instead of sympathising with Iroh's loss, Ozai saw an opportunity to seize the throne for himself.

He approached Fire Lord Azulon about changing the succession and making him the heir instead. Azulon was deeply offended by Ozai's careless request and ordered that Ozai kill his own son, Zuko, so that he might feel the same pain Iroh d❀id, likely nﷺot realising that Ozai doesn't care at all for Zuko.

The pair did not realise that Azula was eavesdropping on their conversation, and she blabbed about it to Zuko, who refused to believe it. Ursa walked in not long after and learned of Azulon's orders from Azula. To her horror, she realised that Ozai was fully on board with killing Zuko to be Fire Lord. To save Zuko's life, Ursa gave Ozai an untraceable poison to kill Azulon.

Ozai agreed to follow Ursa's path, on the condition that she leave the palace and never return, as he feared Ursa could poison him in turn. Naturally, Ursa wanted to bring her children with her, but Ozai replied that if she did so, he woulꦕd kill all of them.

Out of options, Ursa ultimately agreed and was forced to leave her children behind. She said her farewells to each of them (though Azula was asleep at the time), but had a heartfelt conversation with Zuko, before leaving the palace and returning to Hira'a. Ursa would not be reunited with her children for a long🦄🔥 time.

Reconciling With Ikem

Ursa looks at a mask as Ikem speaks behind her.

The first thing Ursa did upon arriving in Hira'a was to seek out her parents, only to find a new family living in her childhood home. After discovering that her parents had long since died, a saddened Ursa walked to the town centre and en🌃countered a man named Noren.

The two converse over breakfast, where Noren reveals to Ursa that he is actually Ikem. Ursa ᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚ𒀰ᩚhad initially believed Ikem to be dead, as Ozai had informed her that he had Ikem killed. Ikem had instead been living under a new identity, as well as a new face.

Ikem tells Ursa that after she was taken to the Fire Nation Capital, he had gone to the Forgetful Valley to be alone and deal with his grief. There, he met the powerful spirit, the Mother of Faces, who gifted Ikem with a new face. Ursa, who was still heartbroken at being forced to abandon her children, decided to venture into the Forgetful 💧Valley, desiring a new face and identity in an effort to heal.

Turning Over A New Leaf

Ursa is gifted a new face by the Mother of Faces.

The Mother of Faces appears before Ursa and Ikem, with the spirit admitting her confusion about why Ursa wants to swap her beautiful face for a new one. Ursa states that the face she has had brought her a life she did not choose for herself, and that is why she wants a new one. Before gifting her a new face, the Mother of Faces reveals that she also has the power to take memories away.

They're the driving forces of conflict for the gAang✃.

At this, Ursa becomes conflicted, as she doesn't want to forget her children, but ultimately must do so, since what she's been experiencing after leaving them has been mental torture𒅌. The Mother of Faces proceeds to grant her a new face, as well as wipe away the painful memories she had of her marriage to Ozai and her children.

Ursa begins her new life as Noriko, and she and Ikem finally marry 🅰as they were meant to decades ago. The pair h🃏ad a daughter named Kiyi, living out a life of bliss until 102 AG, two years after the end of the Hundred-Year War and Ozai's defeat.

A Long-Overdue Reunion

The Mother of Faces appears before Zuko and Ursa.

Desperate for answers to what happened to his mother, now-Fire Lord Zuko becomes even more determined to find Ursa after discovering the letter she wrote claiming Ikem was Zuko's real father. Taking Azula with him, as well as 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Avatar Aang, Sokka, and Katara, Zuko travelled to Hira'a and met Noren, Noriko, and their daughter, Kiyi.

While speaking to the couple, Zuko learned that both Ikem and Ursa had visited the Forgetful Valley and the team hastened to the location, where they encountered the Mother of Faces. It was there that she revealed what she had done to and for Ursa, and just who Noriko was. Azula bܫroke off from the team to dash back to Hira'a, intent on confronting her mother. Zuko and Sokka followed, determ🍎ined to stop her.

Zuko had gotten to Noren and Noriko's home before Azula did and was actually content with leaving without ever confronting Ursa, believing that his mother had achieved true happiness where she was. But Noren intervened, unable to༺ stay silent any longer, and told Noriko that she was, i🌺n fact, Ursa.

Zuko shouts at Azula to stop before she could kill their mother.

It was then that Azula barged in through the ceiling, determined to murder Ursa. At this point, Azula's mental health has disintegrated significantly, having hallucinations of Ursa and believing she's out to kill her. Azula accuses Ursa of having Kiyi to replace her, claiming Ursa wanted a daughter who wasn't a monster. Despite still having no memory of her two children, Noriko replies that it was her fault that she failed to show Azula that she loved her.

Azula flees the scene, and shortly after, the Mother of Faces approaches Noriko at the request of the Avatar. The spirit asks if Noriko would like to have her origina⭕l face and memories restored agai🥀n, to which she accepts.

Ursa and Zuko have their long-awaited conversation.

Now remembering everything, Ursa and Zuko have their first conversation in years. Zuko confronts his mother about the letter, with Ursa replying that Ikem was not Zuko's father, Ozai was. Ursa apologised profusely over leaving, as well as believing she did not love them enough. Z𝔍uko stated that things turned out well in the end, and there was no need to apologise.

Ursa presumably tells her life story to Zuko after the end of The Search, and sometime after, returns to the Fire Nation Capital with Ikem and Kiyi in tow. She r♐eunites with Iroh and gives a satisfying dressing down to an imprisoned Ozai, though she worries constantly over Azula, who has gone off on her own. It isn't known if Ursa and Azula ever reconciled, as Azula's own fate remains a mystery.
