Maybe Six During The Prison Break

Fire Nation Soldiers just can't catch a break, courtesy of Aang. When he's breaking free of the prison with the help of the Blue Spirit in Season 1 Episode 13, Aang certainly does a lot t🔜o at least inspire fear in the Fire Nation Soldiers, leaving them with squashed bodies and himself with a death toll.

Of course, it's all estimates, but working off of the fear in that Fire Nation Soldier's eyes and how easily they were blown off their ladders and straight into the ground, it's pretty easy to assume that Aang wasn't holding back very well. If they weren't blown off of the ladder they were presumably blown off the wall (or at least off-screen).

For a low estimate, we'll say Aang has at least six maimings, if not deaths, on his hands after this prison break.

The Netflix Live-Action Takes About 20 Deaths

It's debatable, but we're probably looking at more deaths. We mean, the wall definitely does seem pretty high still and Aang is definitely blowing them over the edge this time - no more "off-screen" trickery here to make us think there's a chance that they might be alive. Look Aang, just because you're not actively drawing blood doesn't mean you're not injuring or killing people, so I think it's time we had a talk about how far a person can fall before it becomes fatal.

Afterward, there's just nobody left on the wall and instead of just blowing the people on the ladders back to the ground, he sends them sailing through the air. Instead of squishing them, the live-action Aang opted to splat them. Live-action Aang? You get at least 20 deaths added to your toll.

Admiral Zhao Makes At Least One (Kind Of)

Sure, technically, Aang was possessed by the ocean spirit, so these should, theoretically, fall under the Ocean’s body count, but we&rsquܫo;re going to dedicate them to Aang for fun. Are you technically liable for murder if you’re possessed, or would you just be an accomplice?

Whatever the case, La wiped out the Fire Nation navy and, with it, many soldiers and Admiral Zhao, who was definitely drowned (or at least lost his spirit), given that he was lat👍er seen driven to insanitജy in the Fog of Lost Souls in The Legend of Korra. As for all those other nameless souls during the raid on the Northern Water Tribe, it’s hard to say whether or not they lived.

We’ll estimate on the (very) low side of about 20 being lost to the endless depths of the ocean.

The Netflix Live-Action Vengence Kills So Many

Yeah... it's safe to say that "20" doesn't suffice for the live-action's wreckage. We definitely see at least one person go flying, screaming for their lives, and so many firebenders that absolutely bit the dust as soon as Koizilla made its debut. We were told "that is wrath" and uh... yes, yes it was. That was, indeed, a lot of wrath. The Ocean was very clearly not happy and💙 neither was Aang and the Fire Nation bore the brunt of that anger, along with literally evꦓerything in its way.

Aang and the Ocean demolished ships and crushed Fire Nation Soldiers by the boatload. Assuming each boat was staffed by about 100 soldiers (on the low side, even for a bottom-tier warship), there were probably around 500+ casualties in this fight (not necessarily dead just... seriously injured🌳 or shaken🎃 up). So much for the pacifist...

The Rough Rhinos Make… Nothing

It’s a common thought that Aang may have added onto his body count when he airbended one of the Rough Rhinos over 𝔍the same cliff that had killed Chin the Conquerer, but truth be told, he probably didn’t. Listening through the episode carefully, you can hear the splash quickly following the rider’s disappearance, which means he’s probably fine, assuming that he made it to land.

As a bonus, the rider thrown over the cliff and the other riders are all seen later in the comics, meaning that Aan𒈔g’s hands stay clean in this fight.

The Buzzard Wasp Is One More

Downed in Season 2 Episode 11, Aang acts out of character and injures at least one Buzzard Wasp in an act of vengeance. Some people debate whether or not you can see it split in two in a few seconds, but others argue that you're just seeing the profile. Whatever, the case, Aang certainly injured this creature out of malice, rather than self-defense, which, even if it didn't kill it, likely aided in its untimely demise.

Even if you're hesitant to count any of the human deaths on Aang's hands, you can at least admit that the Buzzard Wasp probably didn't survive. It's a striking moment for Aang's character and shows just how much the harsh environment and the situation are affecting him.

The Last Airbender

As much as some may like to forget that Shyamalan's The Last Airbender, exists it's probably the only place where Aang may not be facing potential manslaughter charges. Not a soul dies in The Last Airbender. Aang doesn't get possessed by the Ocean Spirit, La, and instead just makes a big wave to scare the firebenders and during the Blue Spirit prison break, nobody gets blown off of fortress walls.

Aang certainly deals some damage and knocks people off their feet, but nobody really dies or is clearly injured enough to die. The only thing thiꦰs movie manage🐠d to kill was our hopes, dreams, and Tui, the Moon Spirit.
