The Skill

The only exceptions are any legendary animals that the player faces on behalf of the Daughters of Artemis — you can't tame these, no matter the species.
The Knock-Out

Once you find an animal to tame, you'll need to weaken it and then stun it. If the player has enough talent in one kind of stun method or another (or a🅷 high enough level), they might be able to stun it in one go.
Knockout Arrows
The first potential method to stun your adversary is with the knockout arrows. This can be done from far away, which is a huge boon when fighting animals who exclusively melee attack. At level 5, players💜 can unlock the knockout arrows by gaining the Arrow Master ability.
They can be made more powerful by using the Predator Shot ability, too.
Unarmed Strike
The second option is to use an unarmed strike. It requires the player to approach their target unseen, however, and it can be hard to sn⛎eak up on an animal. But if the player manages to pull it off, they can press L3 (or the corresponding button) instead of Y (or the corresponding button) to render their opponent unconscious.
Depending on your own skills, stats, and relative ability compared to the animal's health, you may need to weaken it with attacks before this method will work.
Sparta Kick
Finally, the player could also use a Sparta Kick. This is a simple Tier 1 ability best known for kicking hard enemies off cliffs, killing even the hardest bosses without breaking a sweat, but it works to stun a target, too. The beast will be kn♋ocked out, assuming (like the other options) the player is stro🔴ng enough.
If not, they can always just do a little damage first or use an engraving that boosts their Sparta Kick's damage.
The Recruit
Most of the hard work is finished, by this point. The player just needs to approach their unconscious animal and take the prompt to recruit it. Be wary though, since animals often travel in a pack and there may be more around to deal with before you're safe to approach.
It's also worth noting that whenever the animal leaves your side for some reason (be it because you reloaded the game, you died, or some other reason), it will go feral and start attacking everything around it.
