With Assassin's Creed Mirage retur⛄ning to series roots, how does it compare to Assassin's Creed Valhalla?

The more modern fans may feel a little out of sorts when jumping into this one as a result. Thankfully, we've got you covered. Whether you are a series veteran, have only played the most recent games, or are starting your Assassin's Creed journey with Mirage, we'll help take you through all the best strategies and ways to play, and help you be the best assassin you can be!

Use Your Eagle To Get A Leg Up!

Assassin's Creed Mirage, Using your eagle to spy on your enemies

This tip is really only for those who are new to the series, but boy, efficient use of Enkidu (Basim's eagle) is going to be the difference between silky-smooth assassinations, and bumbling, awkward, fumbled base intrusions. Use your eagle to plan out your route and scope out potential threats.ܫ Where is the objective you are aiming for? What is the best path to said objective? What enemies will be in your way? And most important of all, where can you find piles of hay?

Naturally, all this is further enhanced by the Predator skill tree. This will allow you to do everything from highlighting enemies for you dynamically as you crouch to marking a guard's patrol path visible to you. However, no matter how much you plan to spend on this skill tree, the very first skill, "Pathfinder", is indispensable. It will reveal all the crucial information you are going to want to know in a given mission. Make sure to invest the skill 😼point in that one!

Your Eagle can be disrupted ꧒by archers. Take the🎶m out to ensure a smooth operation.

Invest In The Merchant's Discount Early

Assassin's Creed Mirage, Getting a shop discount with tokens

One thing you'll notice early on in the game is that you can pay merchants a Merchant Coin, and they will lower their prices. One thing you need to know right away... You don't just gain a discount from the merchant you gave the Merchant Token to. It isn't all the merchants in one district, either. It is every merchant across all of Baghdad!

So, it is worth collecting a bunch of Merchant Tokens early and giving them to merchants. For a measly 9 Tokens you will be able to get a thirty percent discount! That will dramatically decr❀ease the cost of items across you൲r entire playthrough.

Tricks For Killing Guards

Assassin's Creed Mirage, Killing a guard while another is standing just a few meters away

If you kill an enemy in plain sight of another enemy, you are doing it wrong, but killing an enemy, when another enemy is just out of sight can be a nifty way to lure them in. When they come to investigate, pop out and assassinate them before they have a chance to fully realize what is even happening.

It is worth noting that the sounds of dying guards are surprisingly bad at alerting their nearby enemies. So, you can murder guards pretty close to each other, and the primary thing you need to worry about is line of sight.

If a guaꦚrd does happen to turn around as you are seperating their friends soul from their body, hammer on that assassination button. You will often still be able to get them.

Another thing to keep in mind is that Mirage considers a wall to be a wall, even if that wall has a number of holes throughout it. Bassim can crouch behind a short, ornate stone wall, that clearly obfuscates nothing, yet enemies will be completely unable to see him. Experiment with the environment and use this janky stuff to your advant൲age!

This does not apply to gates. Enemies are perfectl💦y ca🔜pable of seeing through gates. So, your mileage may vary.

Every Pile Of Hay Is A Potential Graveyard

Assassin's Creed Mirage, Stuffing a corpse into a pile of hay

It is impossible to overemphasize how incredibly powerful every shrub, pile of leaves, or wagon full of hay is. For starters, the🐬y are brilliant for disposing of bodies. There is seemingly no limit to the amount of corꦏpses you can stuff into a pile of hay. But more than that, they are the best place to ambush your enemies in the game.

Even if another soldier sees you grab their friend and pull them into a shrub, that will often only make them curious, m🤡eaning that they will then investigate! You can chain multiple kills effortlessly this way.

But that's not all. If you are on the run, you can turn a corner, leaving your foe's sight, hop into a pile of leaves, and they will completely lose you. 🔯These areas will be highligh𝔍ted by your Eagle Vision, as well. So, you will always be able to quickly find one in a pinch. They come in a numb

Do A Few Pickpocket Laps

Assassin's Creed Mirage, Basim picking pockets

Money can be extremely useful in Mirage, and when you aren't using money, you are hiring people with tokens. But what is the best way to fill your pockets? Easy, go on a crime spree and grab every pouch you see.

As the game progresses, you will gain other ways to gather tokens. As an example, you can complete contracts. However, the number of tokens you will acquire this way is piddly. If you circle a busy market, and you grab multiple pouches, you will very quickly end up with a pile of tokins.

Parry And Prevail

Assassin's Creed Mirage, Basim stabbing a guard in the chest

When it comes to combat, you have a few attacks. You can slash at your enemies with light attacks. You can hold the slash down for a heavy attack, but for the most part, you don't want to do any of that. Instead, you should try to be extremely reactive.

Lock on to your enemy, and wait until you see what color they glow. If they glow yellow, prepare to parry them. If they glow red, prepare to dodge. After dodging, rinse and repeat until you parry. Once you successfully parry them, you will often be able to instantly assassinate them.

This is not true of certain heavily armored enemies at full health, you will need to soften them up first. This is also not true of regular enemies on the hard difficulty. Naturally🎐, they are far more resilient than on normal or easy.

Now, there are enemies that will quite simply refuse to use an attack that can be parried. This is true of the large men who fight with giant clubs. However, that just removes all the guessing and makes the battles extremely easy to handle. You know that you are going to have tꦯo dodge, so just wait for them to strike, dodge, and then slash them in the b♍ack.

Acquiring Another Viewpoint Is Always Valuable

Assassin's Creed Mirage, Basim looking over the city from above

This is a Ubisoft game, and as you may or may not know, spreading watchtowers around the map is kind of their thing. However, it cannot be expressed enough how valuable these are. The extra markers they give you are nice. Sure. But the big get is fast travel.

Look, throughout your time assassining and creeding, you are going to be jumping all over Baghdad. Your life will be so, so, so, much easier if you absolutely make sure to gather any viewpoint you are even relatively close to. Hell, better yet, take the half hour and go collect 'em all.

If There Is No Key In Sight Come Back Later

Assassin's Creed Mirage, Basim facing a locked door

Sometimes Mirage can be at odds with its own sense of freedom. Sure, you can sort of just go anywhere and do anything, but if you venture into an area that is associated with a specific quest, you may find that there is a door with a lock, and no key in sight.

If you have Enkidu's Pathfinder skill unlocked, you will be able to see the individual holding the key by using your eagle vision. If you can't find that person, then you will not be able to get that key until you need it during a specific quest. You will need to come back later.

While this may feel like a waste of your time, when you come back to complete that quest, the guards you killed the first time around will still be dead, so, you will only need to deal with any guards that spawn for that par༒ticular mission.

Barred Doors And How To Circumvent Them

Assassin's Creed Mirage, Using a knife to break the barricade

You will encounter some barred doors that just seem absolutely impossible to get around. However, unlike with the key which can be inaccessible unless you have completed a specific mission, those barred doors are nearly always capable of being opened.

When you encounter a barred door, you are 👍actually being asked to solve a puzzle. Sometimes, they are painfully easy. The solution could be that you just need to jump in through the giant hole in the wall, but other times it requires you to be a touch more creative than that. We will list some of the common setups that you may encounter when trying to open barred doors.

  • You need to climb through an open window.
  • You need to break a weakly boarded-up window with your knife throw (the wood will be visibly distressed) and then enter through it.
  • You need to break through a weak ceiling with your knife (this is the same as the window, but a touch easier to miss.
  • You need to sneak through a small hole in the wall. Some of these will be concealed by objects in the environment, so keep a sharp eye.
  • You need to break the barricade securing the door by throwing your knife through a hole in the wall or a window with wide spaces between the bars. This is the trickiest one and a number of players are likely to stumble on this one at first.
