I saw The Illuminate in Helldivers 2. I know I did. Well, I think I did. What I actually saw, in the midst of mowing down Terminids, was a blue laser bolt🌜 flying towards my head as I ran screaming towards a mob of bugs, and a strange blur.

Now, that blur might have been my rover pack, so I concede that maybe in my panic I assumed it was a shrouded e𝓡nemy, but I know I saw the blue bolt. And I saw a strange blip on my radar at the same time, moving right past me and disappearing iꦗn the direction I’d just come from.

I didn’t have the time to follow it and see where it went – I had a mission to finish, after all – but there was something on the ground with me, something that shot at me and disappeared. And I’m not the only person that’s seen it. Other Helldivers are convinced that 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:ܫthey’ve seen signs of Theಞ Illuminate, a sophisticated alien race from the first game. Other people are sharing video footage of them being shot, seemingly by nobody – and it's always with blue bolts. Some have also seen what I saw, blinking dots on the minimap moving past them with no enemies in sight.

I wasn’t convinced by the rumours, but then Johan Pilestedt tweeted, “Blue beams aren’t real, it can’t hurt you.” So now I know it’s real and not just a weird glitch. One of my favourite things about Helldivers 2, and something I keep repeating over and over, is that you cannot trust the developers. The lying is part of how they create mythology – 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:they leave things out of patch notes, they deny things on social medi🃏a, and the more a rumour gains momentum, the more they will gaslight yꦰou. ? Sure, Jan.

They lie, of course, because Super Earth’s government lies. It’s all propaganda, it’s part of the canon. We’re all players in the world’s biggest roleplay, and the developers are the Dungeon Master even after we log out of the game. We have no choice but to rumour-mongℱer, share evidence, and speculate online. We convince each other that we must be wrong, maybe what we’re seeing are just deflected laser bolts, until we’re told we’re꧑ imagining it, and then we insist we know what we saw. For Helldivers 2 to work as well as it does, Arrowhead must make us paranoid. And boy, am I paranoid.

I’m excited, too, of course. In the last few days, the community has done quite a lot. Six planets liberated, two defended, and two sectors captured means we’re ahead in the Galactic War. Our new major order calls for us to liberate two planets within 72 hours, though getting to those planets requires liberating at least three more planets. That means everybody is going to be concentrating on finishing that order as soon as possible, opening us up to a potential surprise attack from The Illuminate – 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:this would be typical Joel, in my opinion. I’m convinced that we’ll 🥀know the truth for sure by this weekend, and we’re all going to feel very vindicated.

Helldivers 2 is the sequel to the third-person shooter from Arrowhead Game Studios. This time out, the Helldivers are deep in the Galactic War, and it's up to you to bring Managed Democracy to the masses.
