Ar♑kane Making A Blade Game For Marvel Seems Like Its Best Shot At Making An Arkane Game

Arkane's recent games have leaned away from what made it 𝄹a special studio. Hopefully Blade is a chance 🧸to pivot back.

Blade was revealed with a snazzy CG trailer that showed off Eric Brooks's shave getting interrupted by the arrival of vampires, but it was pretty short and didn't contain any gameplay. That's the norm for reveal trailers, but the lack of anything too concrete does make a bit more sense if a recent claim from an insider turns out to be true.

, the rumoured release window was reported by reliable insider Jeff Grubb, . Grubb noted that he's heard that the internal release window for the game right now is 2027, six years after the launch of Arkane Lyon's last game, .

Grubb said, "Arkane's Blade. If you're looking to know when I can play that then, right now internally, they're expecting that to be sold on store shelves and digitally in the year 2027. That is the year they are aiming for with that game, at least as far as I know what Marvel is marking on their calendar... That means 2027 at the earliest, don't expect it before that".

Although it almost definitely will end up being an Xbox exclusive, it's worth noting right now that Blade hasn't actually been confirmed to be one just yet.

That's not all that Grubb had to say, though. After discussing the potential release window for Blade and agreeing that it sounds right considering Deathloop released two years ago, Grubb notes that releasing in 2027 might mean that the game is going to be a launch title for Xbox's new hardware, and that it could be a cross-gen title between Xbox Series and whatever's next.

Although Grubb seems pretty certain about Blade aiming for a 2027 release window, he seems more like he's speculating about it being a cross-gen title alongside the next Xbox based on the date and how far away it is. Either way, it could end up being a massive title for both Xbox and Arkane, just not one that we'll be getting to play any time soon.
