These massive creatures might look intimidating at first, but they're peaceful until attacked. They're one of the common creatures but you have to be a little careful while trying to tame one since they can easily knock you out if you don't position yourself properly.
Triceratops Taming Process
Once you find a Triceratops in the wild, which isn't hard since they're everywhere, you can start the process of taming it by first getting a bow or a crossbow with a bunch of Tranq Arrows. You can also use the Tranq Darts but most people won't have them since this is usually an early game dinosaur.
You'll need a higher number of Tranq Arrows depending on the level of the Triceratops you're trying to tame.
After getting the required weapons, you can start shooting the Triceratops at any part of the body other than the head. It takes less damage because of the armor on the head and also gets less Torpor from it. You don't need a trap for this dinosaur since they're quite slow and easy to kite around.
Even if you get hit by a Triceratops, it sends you quite far, giving you a ton of distance unless you're at the edge of a cliff. If you still want to make a trap for it, you can simply create a structure big enough to house ꦕthe dragon using foundations and walls along with a ramp leading into the structure.
Make sure one of the structure walls is in the gate form so you can get out of൲ it as you try to lure the Tricerಌatops inside.
Keep shooting the Tranq Arrows at its body until it goes unconscious and then put some Mejoberries in its inventory. You can also use other berries for the taming process but the effectiveness will be lower, which increases the taming time and reduces the level gain. Simple Kibble ca🅷n be another great food to use here.
Protect the unconscious Triceratops until the taming process is done and you can claim it right after. Another easy way to tame a Triceratops is by finding a parent with babies and either taming or defeating the parent. You'll be able to claim the babies either way.
What Are Triceratops Used For?
Triceratops can have several uses, but its most outstanding feature is the berry collection from the grass and Thatch collection from trees. You can♌ get hundreds of berries by simply attacking the grass with this dinosaur a couple of times. Moreover, its weight lets you carry a bunch of items around.
However, Triceratops are quite slow and aren't the best creatures for moving long distances. What they are great for is when you're trying to fight smaller enemies, including Alpha Raptor, since this dinosaur can knock them back constantly and prevent them from attacking.
