BioWare and EA bet everything on Anthem. It took resources away from Mass Effect: Andromeda and the development of a 💫follow-up to Dra🧜gon Age: Inquisition, which eventually became 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Dragon Age: The Veilguard. But just because it stands as the perfect example of just how ill-suited EA was to own a company like BioWare, that doesn't mean it doe🏅sn't have its fans.

Those fans are now reeling from the news that Anthem will be made completely unplayable ✃in January of next year. This is because EA is finally pulling the plug on the servers, and as an always-online game, Anthem will 🤪be inaccessible to anyone who's bought it - and there are no refunds.

Before this happens, Anthem fans are calling on EA to give the game one final update - an offline mode. This would allow players to continue to access the game once support is pulled; a feature we sometimes see added to live services bef🔯ore they go offline.

Anthem Players Are Begging For An Offline Mode

Right now, the top comment on the Anthem subreddit post about🦂 the shutdown comes from user Lgndryhr: "I wish they would enable offline mode or P2P".

ﷺMany agree with this. "Pulling the plug on all that work that people did, and no one could potentially enjoy it anymore? Just doesn't sit well wi꧅th me," says Andrew_Waples.

Some Anthem fans have taken t🎶heir complaints to the , setting out their argument.

"To shut down and completely remove a game people have put money into (especially without refunds) is a worrying and dangerous precedent that the gaming community is facing, and should be pushed back on," says user Sheyshen. "If you bought a game you should be able ꧙to play it, even if it's old, even if it's not being updated anymore."

"I agree, adding an offline mode would mean a lot to the community," says Menojohnson. "A solution like what Knockout City implemented after its sunset would be ama🅺zing."

However, few s🧸eem hopeful that EA would ever put resources꧋ into this. "It would likely require a large update and a fair bit of dev time. There is zero benefit for them going out of their way to implement offline play properly, except maybe gaining some goodwill with the community," argues Reddit user Hayyner.

"The game was♏ designed to be online only unfortunately, unless some people can figure out how to self-host servers then it's over," ShotgunAndHead agrees.

Right now, there are no plans for Anthem to be made playable beyond the shutdown date of January꧃ 12, 2026. So far, the communications we've rec🍷eived from EA have emphasised that the game will not be accessible after that, meaning that a final update is very unlikely.

Incidentally, this has coincided with the success of the Stop Killing Games campaign, which has 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:amassed more than on꧂e million signatures across the EU. 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:So far, it's faced pushback, but the energy behind the campaign is s⛦till strong.
