Animal Well Review: You Won't Believe How Deep This Well Goes
Animal Well is a non-combat Metroidvania wiꦡth deep, comp🌌lex secrets.
The Lantern is the last of the upgrades in the first layer of Animal Well, and you’re not able to venture into the boss puzzle without gettiꦿng it first. This part of the well is creepier than anything you’ve seen yet, an🔴d there’s danger lurking in almost every shadow, patiently waiting to strike.
Collect All Four Flames To Advance Toward The Lantern
You've been collecting plenty of inventory items and upgrades as you've pushed on through Animal Well so far, and up until now, there's no right or wrong order in which to obtain the other four main upgrades, the tools you get after𓆉 finishing boss puzzles around the map.
That said, you'll need to collect all four upgrades, as well as each of the four flames 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:from around the map, before you can progress toward the Lanter꧙n. The re💃quisite tools are:
- 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:The Disc upgrade, which you can collect by solving the Dog Ghost puzzle in the pink biome in the upper left quadrant.
- 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:The Slinky upgrade, protected by the Iguana puzzles in the green biome up in the upper right quadrant.
- 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:The Yoyo upgrade, for which you'll need to brave the Ostrich puzzle over in the indigo biome, in the lower right quadrant of the map.
- 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:The B. Wand upgrade, after you've solved the Seahorse puzzle down in the purple biome located in the lower left quadrant.
Collect 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:at least eight secret eggs while you're adventuring, so you can open the door in the egg room that leads to 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:the Animal Flute, permitting fast travel across th🦋e large map i🌸n Animal Well.
Additionally, you'll need to double back to all of these areas a few times to keep pushing on with new upgrades, since you'll need to solve the flame puzzles protecting each flame to obtain them, so you can go back to the main area with the four statues.
Once you've got all of the above, light all four beacons in the statues, and the center of the floor will open up to reveal a previously inaccessible lower area in the middle of the map. To proceed to the Lantern in Animal Well, simply jump down this new opening to venture forward.

When I stop playing Animal Well, I will always think back 𓃲to how difficult the ostrich enco꧂unter was.
Lantern Puzzle Solution
As soon as you drop into the area below the four statues, go right until you see a ladder. The entire area is covered in spirits that hurt if you touch them, so be mindful of them when you jump around.
At the bottom of the ladder, you'll see a crank on the left side of a platform and a block preventing you from heading through the pathway on the left. To raise the block, turn the crank on the platform, which actually raises a second platform from the water behind you on the right side of the screen.
This platform has another crank, and that's the one that moves the block. You'll need to quickly turn the crank on the second platform and run beneath the block on the left side of the screen before it hits the ground again. Once you're past the block, you'll be in a dark room, but you'll have to navigate to the bottom-middle of the room, where you'll find another ladder downward.
There are a few ways you can make it🉐 easier to see in here - you can toss Firecrackers to light up portions of the room, or your Yoyo casts a fai♈nt light when you toss it.
At the bottom of this ladder, you'll see a white bird blocking your way to a treasure chest on the left side of the room, with a blocked path to a telephone on the right. For now, jump to the platform above the bird and go left into a room with a green button on the ceiling above two trap door platforms. For now, use the ladder on the left.
You'll enter a room with several shadow figures waiting to follow and attack you, and you'll also notice several yellow buttons you can't currently access. They open another area you're unable to reꦗach at the moment, with a ladder in the top right corner.
The figures in here can harm you with the lights from their eyes, so you'll need to be careful of them! However, they're scared of Firecrackers, so use them to your defensive advantage if need 💟be.
To start, go to the top left corner along the platforms and leave the screen to the left. Jump up a screen, and you'll be in a room with three yellow and pink buttons in the floor that correlate to the blocked path in the room. However, the buttons don't stay pressed when you step off of them, meaning you'll need to get creative.
As you watch out for the dog creature that attacks in this room, hop to the top left button and quickly drop your Slinky onto the button so it stays depressed. As soon as it's placed, jump to the top right button and stand on it yourself. As the creature chases you around the room, the enemy steps on the third button and unlocks the path forward.
Carefully enter the path that just unlocked and walk through the vines and into an obscured pathway. It leads to the top trap door you saw on the way down into the red room with the three shadow figures, so jump to hit the green button and fall through the trap doors. It leads to the top button in the red room, so press it and use the trap door to get back to the main portion of the room.
From here, quickly head to the right, where you'll enter a room with more platforms and shadow creatures. Make your way to the vines in the middle of the rightmost wall, and go through this path until you reach the boar's head fast travel point. Play the Animal Flute at the shrine if you have it, and then jump up the platforms to the left and into a doozy of a second puzzle.
There's a blocked path in the upper left corner of the next room that leads to a ladder, but you'll need to hit the yellow button in the bottom right corner to unlock it, a task that requires quite 🦋a few timely steps.
- Drop the Slinky from the left side of the platform in the top right, and it will hit the green = button for a moment to allow you time to run beneath the block before it falls again.
- The Slinky will continue along a path of arrows unti it falls onto the || button to raise a block in the bottom middle of the screen.
- Quickly drop to the bottom of the room and toss your Disc through the opening while the || block is briefly raised.
- As the Disc is blown by the fan up toward the two green buttons in this opening, jump up to the trap door on the left using the B. Wand and the platforms, and make sure you stand on the trap door before it closes.
- You'll fall onto another green button, where you'll need to stand on the green button to release the Slinky from the trap door on the left.
- The Slinky will continue along another set of platforms and fall onto the = block at the bottom. Use your Yoyo to hit the green button above the spikes below your blob to raise the block and make the Slinky fall onto the yellow button.
Once the path in the top-left corner is unlocked, jump up to this platform and climb the ladder to reach the button in the lower left corner of the main red room.
Lastly, to get the final button in the bottom-right corner of the room, go back to the boar's head and, instead of jumping to the left up the platforms nearby, there's a section of false wall in the top middle of the screen. Hop through the vines to enter a narrow passageway with another of those creepy red-eyed creatures that chased you before.
Being careful of the creature, hit the green button on the right side of the screen, which will briefly raise the block on the left. The creature will follow your blob, so while the creature is standing on the green button, you'll need to quickly run beneath the block and jꦆump up this path to hit the final yellow button from the main red room.
With the final button pressed, the path to the ladder in the top right corner of the main red room is open. Hop your way up there and c🉐limb the ladder, which puts you on the other side꧙ of that pesky white bird that was blocking the path to the treasure chest.
Open the chest, where you'll find Animal Well's Lantern upgrade! Turning it on allows your blob to walk through certain enemies as if they don't exist, so turn on the light to make the bird transparent and head back on out into the main area with your new upgrade and head toward 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:the final puzzle of the first section of Animal Well!
