It's been a while since we've visited the town of Bright Falls, 13 years to be exact, and in that gap, Remedy came out with Control, which started to connect the story of Alan Wa▨ke💦 with its universe, culminating in the full crossover with 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Alan Wake 2. In addition to Control characters, there are plenty of old friends from the first Alan Wake you may not remember or know at all if you're jumping straight into the sequel.

Although Alan Wake 2 can be played as a standalone title, it is a follow-up, and its storyline shares major connections with characters appearing in the original 2010 game and Control. If you're curious about their older character designs or how they were portrayed in Alan Wake, here's everyone from the past cast.

Since characters like Mr.♎ Door and Agent Kiran Estevez only had their names mentioned in Control and are now debuting in Alan Wake 2, they are left out of thiജs list.

Updated on January 1, 2023, by Dennis Moiseyev: There were three additional returning characters in Alan Wake 2 that just didn't feel right to leave out since they are still active in the story, even though some are more diminished roles. Part of the new content in New Game Plus also provided additional lore and detail about characters from Control, particularly Ahti and Dr. Casper Darling, so that's now been added as well.

1 ಞ Alan Wake And Alice Wake ꩵ

Although you also play as Saga Anderson, it wouldn't be Alan Wake 2 without the titular protagonist, and both he and his wife return in the sequel with some changes to their character designs. Given how the first game ended, Alan and Alice are still not together, and how their stories play out is drastically different.

For the main chun🦋k of Alan Wake 2, Alan is navigating the grim New York-inspired streets of the Dark Place, altering scenes with a plot board and fighting off Taken with his iconic gun and flashlight. Some of his chapters also include accessing videos that his wife left for him in their Parliament Tower apartment. While Alan often appears as his in-game and live-action self, Alice is only portrayed through the recordings in live-action.

2 🧜 💦 The Anderson Brothers

The fun personalities of Tor and Odin Anderson, along with their rock stardom Old Gods of Asgard past, are explored much more in-depth in Alan Wake 2, tying into both Saga's and Alan's storylines. In the Dark Place, you'll see their younger live-action characters tak🍬ing part in an origina꧅l song for a musical number (performed by Poets of the Fall) and, in the real world, residing in Bright Falls' Valhalla Nursing Home.

The Norse mythology rocker duo of the Anderson Brothers play a vital role in Saga's journey as she wrestles with her reality. Witnessing their character development in every chapter is excellent, which all builds up to a very fun summoning ritual finale mixing music and combat by Cauldron Lake.

3 ﷽ Alex Casey

Alex Casey wasn't a character in the first Alan Wake game like he is now in Alan Wake 2. Casey was the fictional literary detective hero Alan based his books on, like Michael Connelly's Harry Bosch series or Jo Nesbø's Harry Hole series. Alan went to Bright Falls in 2010 to work on a new novel that didn't include Casey, which ended up being the living nightmare known as 'Departure.'

Alan Wake 2 is based on Alan's sequel manuscripts 'Initiation' and 'Return,' which both feature a live manifestation of Alex Casey. One Alex Casey is an FBI agent investigating ritualistic murders and working with the FBC in Bright Falls alongside his partner Saga Anderson in what's seemingly reality. The other Alex Casey is in the Dark Place and embodies the more gritty fictional detective from Alan's novels, and both are voiced by Max Payne's voice actor James McCaffrey.

Even though Casey wasn't physically a character, James McCaffrey still voiced Alex Casey in the first game as a manuscript narration of the two pages from Alan's book 'The Sudden Stop.'

4 Agent Robert🏅 Nightingale 🌺

Beforeౠ FBI agents Saga Anderson and Alex Casey made the trip to Bright Falls to investigate the mysterious paranatural events taking place in the town, there was FBI agent Robert Nightingale relentlessly hunting Alan Wake and seeking to bring him to justice. And ♊you get to see more of him in Alan Wake 2, under less fortunate circumstances.

Saga and Casey are tasked with investigating his death, the cult, and Alan Wake's role in it. 5 Ahti

Ahti is back like he never left. Except... he did leave the Oldest House and is somehow in two places at once in Alan Wake 2, allowing him to interact with both Alan Wake and Saga Anderson. He's a janitor inside the Dark Place's In Between with Mr. Door studio and a janitor at Valhalla Nursing Home in Bright Falls, where he's befriended the residents.

He returns with the same character design, voice actor, and dialogue quirks. However, instead of just listening to music through his headphones, Ahti now takes the stage in Watery's Suomi Hall to sing a ballad and even discloses that he toured with the Old Gods of Asgard. He's also rather close with Thomas Zane and has starred in his films for musical parts.

The Final Draft Expansion

New Game Plus mode adds a manuscript for Ahti in Return 7 that essentially confirms a lot of theories that some have had. Ahti's name refers to the Finnish Sea God in mythology, and he even refers to himself as a "seaman" to Saga. He's also the one to open the spiral attic door for Alan to the Writer's Room, and the way you teleport to Alan in the Dark Place is by way of a janitor's bucket.

Like Odin and Tor Anderson are implied to be actual Norse Gods, Ahti sounds to indeed be a Sea God. The manuscript page titled 'It's Not a Lake' describes Ahti as a large Godlike presence ("something of impossible scale") lifting the caldera in Cauldron Lake like it's a janitor's bucket and creating a vortex from the water sloshing.

This also ties into the new dialogue line said by Odin and Tor, who join Saga in the Dark Place during Return 9, that Ahti created the Overlap in the fountain, the swirling vortex that would take her back to the Writer's Room attic with Alan to stop Scratch.

6 Dr. C𝓰asper Darling

What the Koskela Brothers commercials are to Alan Wake 2, Dr. Casper Darling was to Control. Throughout the Oldest House, you can find live-action video demonstrations of him explaining the science behind the paranatural concepts in the story. He is the FBC's Head of Research, after all. You'll also find his book, "My Interpretation of Many Worlds," in Mr. Door's dressing room.

He has a brief cameo on a staticky TV screen inside Room 665 while Alan and Thomas Zane are in the middle of their conversation. This is significant because, in one of his video presentations in Control, Darling mentions the Ol𒁃dest House has a Quarry, what he refers to as a Threshold room loaded with the "paranatural lead" called Black Rock, providing the most stable frequencies to other dimensions.

This is preꦜcisely what Alan Wake 2 might be alluding to here with his cameo, him trying to contact Alan in the Dark Place. He even reveals the Quarry elevator access code was "Black Rock 6-6-5," the exact room number where he appears before Alan and Zane on the TV.

The Final Draft Expansion

Alan Wake 2's New Game Plus also delivers more of Casper Darling, his cameos on TV screeꩲns insi🅘de the Oceanview Hotel now turning into actual video clips that both confuse and entertain.

The first video clip you'll see is on the TV in room 205, where he's in an undisclosed red area trying to capture frequencies with one of his paranatural devices, and he ends up catching Alan Wake's signal in the Dark Place. What's funny here is that Matthew Porretta hears his own voice as Alan Wake and ends up making a meta comment about it.

The second video playing on the TV set is in the Entrance Hall of the Oceanview, which takes quite a turn. It's still not exactly clear where Dr. Darling is, but he ends up summoning Thomas Zane by just mentioning that a scientist needs an artist. The two then share a drink together and are implied to go off collaborating on a project, which makes you question everything yet again.

7 Cynthia Weaver 𝓡

Cynthia Weaver was nicknamed the 'Lady of the Light' in Bright Falls due to her character being obsessed with a lantern and always carrying it around like the Log Lady Margaret Lanterman from Twin Peaks. She was one of the most devout fighters against the darkness, but sadly, her fate in Alan Wake 2 sees her lose her battle and become a powerful Taken going after Tor 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:in the Old Gods chapter.

Over a decade later, Cynthia is no longer the benevolent character you once knew. Her Dark Presence jump scares you viciously multiple times, and her boss fight is 168🐼ℱ澳洲幸运5开奖网:one of the hardest achievements in the game. In Alan Wake 2, you can see a portrait of her old character model holding the lantern in her room at the Valhalla Nursing Home, as well as a nod to a plot point from the first game, with Thomas Zane's wife scratched out of a photo.

8 📖 Rose Marigold ꧃

Alan Wake's biggest fan makes her return in the second game, still in her waitress attire, but now only working part-time at the Oh Deer Diner and the rest of the time at Valhalla Nursing Home. She also has a much more important role in Alan's escape from the Dark Place.

While she may seem creepy and unsettling in her initial conversation with Saga, like some remnant of her obsessed Annie Wilkes-like character still a part of her, she redee✤ms herself throughout the story. You can still see her Alan Wake obsession, however, creating an entire room dedicated to him at🐭 the Valhalla Nursing Home.

9 Thomas Zane 🔥

Thomas Zane's character has changed a lot from the first game. Before, he was a more benevolent character helping Alan with the darkness and was voiced by James McCaffrey. He also wore a diver's suit with light illuminating from the holes (a nod to this can be seen in portraits at the Oceanview Hotel).

His character was revisited in the Control AWE DLC, where it was revealed he's become identical to Alan, and he remains in his live-action form in Alan Wake 2 as Ilkka Villi. Zane is more mysterious, deceitful, and downright creepy, especially those moments in Initiation 5 and 8, where his conversations with Alan take very odd turns.

10 🔯 Baba Jakala (Barbara Jagger) ♋

Barbara Jagger was like Scratch in the first Alan Wake game, the main antagonist forged by the Dark Presence into a Woman in Black specter using Taken to terrorize Alan and Bright Falls, with the Clicker being the object to stop her. She was also the wife of Tom Zane and a Finnish actress starring in some of her husband's films, who was obsessed with Cauldron Lake and ultimately paid the price for it.

Baba Jakala not only gets referenced in Alan Wake 2 during the Old Gods chapter in a newspaper clipping, but you get to see her before she became affected by the Dark Presence in the movie Nightless Night (Yötön Yö). Directed by Thomas Zane and starring Ahti and Aleksi Kesä (Sam Lake's Alex Casey), the short film conveys that Baba was a romantic interest for Casey, but, as always, not all is as it seems.
