It may not seem that serious at first, but much like real life, the worse an Infection gets, the worse the effects are going to be on your character. Y𓆏ou'll want to heal an Infection as soon as possible, or else you might just meet your end somewhere in the wilderness.

Infections, Explained

Player character summary focusing on their infection and showing the effects of it in 7 Days To Die.

Infection is one of several status effects you can get related to your health, and you have a chance to get one any time you are attacked by a zombie or animal, both regular and zombified.

An Infection has four stages, each of which happens when it hits a certain percentage, and outside the first stage, each of them has negative effects on you, up until it finally kills you at Stage Four.

Getting hit by enemies increases the rate of Infection, and each hit while you're infected has a greater chance of giving you further Infection.

Both normal and zombie animals have an increased chance of inflicting you with an Infection.

Any Infection you get always starts small, usually at around 0.1 to 012 percent for the first hit that gives you the Infection.

It gradually gets worse as time passes in the game at a rate of .1 percent per real-world minute, totaling in at six real-world hours to reach the final stage of an infection if left untreated.

Stage 3

How To Cure An Infection

Outside of Stage Four, the infection can be treated at any time with the use of Antibiotics, a Jar of Honey, or Herbal Antibiotics, each of which heals a different amount of Infection.

Medicine

Infection Percentage Treated

Antibiotics

25%

Herbal Antibiotics

10%

Jar of Honey

5%

Doing so gives you the Treated Infection status, which either pauses or eliminates the spread of the Infection depending on the percentage and lessens the effects of the Infection stage.

You can take Vitamins before an Infection to reduce your chances of getting one, but they won't cure it if taken w🍃hile🐠 you have an Infection.

Infection Stage

Effects When Treated

Stage 1

No effects.

Stage 2

Reduces Stamina regeneration by 12.5%.

Stage 3

Reduces Stamina regener𝓡ation by 17% and lowers💫 all attributes by one.

If the antibiotic type covers enough of the infection's percentage, it will disappear once the percentage is gone, but if it doesn't, you'll need to take more of them to effectively rid yourself of it.

The rarest but most effective option for healing an Infection is regular Antibiotics, as they treat 25 percent of your Infection.
